School is back in session!
The Great Opportunity Policy wrapped up its Back to School Series this week. We hit the road, traveling to Las Vegas, Kenosha, and Chicago, talking with parents, students, and local officials about the importance of school choice.
LAS VEGAS, NEVADA
Our first stop was in Las Vegas. We were thrilled to partner with Invest in Education to host conversations with South Carolina Senator Tim Scott, Nevada senate candidate Captain Sam Brown, and Senior Fellow at School Choice Now, Valeria Gurr. These individuals know that when we fight for school choice, we are fighting for our future.
“The closest thing to magic we have in America is a quality education.” – Sen. Tim Scott
KENOSHA, WISCONSIN
Next, we hit the ground running in the Badger State with Wisconsin senate candidate Eric Hovde and Congressman Bryan Steil. Joined by Senator Scott, Hovde and Steil met with local officials, parents, and students to discuss what school choice means and what it could do, and has done, throughout Wisconsin and the rest of the country. Parents know what is best for their children, and children should be able to unlock their own futures by holding the keys to their education.
“Every single child deserves good schooling and to be in a safe environment. Every parent wants that desperately for their child, and it is long overdue that this should be opened up to every child across this country.” – Senate Candidate Eric Hovde
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS
Our tour ended in Chicago, where Senator Scott met with local leaders and community members to discuss how school choice is not a political issue. Although the Cubs lost during our time in the Windy City, our message continues to win. We win because we know that children are more than numbers, parents have rights, and families can make their own decisions. We will continue to defend school choice until every child is set free to soar in the classroom and beyond.
“God does not give out brains and potential based on zip codes or income.” – Sen. Tim Scott
